East Yorkshire: Barmby on the Marsh

Sunday, 7th July 2013

I'm adding this some 5 years later so my memory is a bit hazy of the actual walk itself.  I do remember it was a forum meet organised by Ed and it was on a bakingly hot day with not much in the way of shade!

The motley crew

River boat on the Ouse (I think)

Lovely little bridge

Eggborough Power Station

Admiring the fields of Yorkshire Strawberries
(potatoes)

A quirky marker stone
If I remember rightly, we stopped at 2 pubs on the way round although I can't remember where or their names!

A pleasant enough walk but one I probably won't do again.

Thanks for looking 😊

Lincolnshire Wolds: Thornton Abbey, Nettleton and Walesby (12 Miles)

Thursday, 4th July 2013

Took the day off work to spend the day wandering the Lincolnshire Wolds with Andy from the forum and, later, Sharon joined us. There were 3 walks altogether spread out over the whole day. I couldn't make it to the first one so I wandered around Thornton Abbey instead. Then I inadvertently committed myself to Walks 2 and 3 when I accepted a lift off Andy to the start of Walk 2 - with no way of getting back to my car, I had to do walk 3!! Great day's walking. Great personal achievement. And Lincolnshire's not as flat as it looks!
