WI Walk - Hedon (4 miles)

Saturday, 28th March 2015

Another local walk for me but it was nice to do it with company for a change.  Plus, I got to go in The Chatty Couch for a cuppa and one of their scrummy sausage rolls!

Little froglets on the path

Along the drain bank

Dredging and pruning the drain

This is actually a fungus in a tree
(and not a bid dollop of oss muck!)

Hot-footing it to the cafe!

COUNTY BAGGING: East Yorkshire - Flamborough Head (7.8 miles)

Sunday, 22nd March 2015

I got this walk from Andrew White's Walks Around Britain TV series which gets shown on our local "Estuary TV" telly channel.  Link to the website HERE

A fantastic walk along the Headland Way, Flamborough. It's more uppy and downy than you think and a good leg workout! Possibly not one to do after rain as some of the paths have quite steep drops and it can get quite muddy (slippery).

Lots of cafes/toilets for the hungry and incontinent amongst you as well!

Paraglider (probably launched off the clifftop at Brid)

Steep steps for giants up the hillside

First glimpses of the white chalk cliffs

Selwick Bay

Flamborough Lighthouse

Fog signal station

Topograph

Thornwick Bay

Cliffs full of sea birds
(those black "seams" are actually rows upon rows of birds)

Close up

Sea stack with a unique "top"...

... a car tyre on the top
(the "des res" for seagulls)

Fabulous geology

A last look at Thornwick Bay before heading
up the road and back to the car
A fabulous walk and one I will do again.

Thanks for looking 😊

WI Walk - Rise (4 miles)

A little bit later than normal to make the most of the weather and the Snowdrops.

First glimpse of some Snowdrops

Lining the driveway of Rise Hall

Hidden patches in the woodland

North Yorkshire Moors: Bridestones from Lockton (8 miles)

Sunday, 1st March 2015

Another one added well after the event (some 3+ years later).

It was another forum meet from the now defunct forum so, sadly, my original write-up's been lost.

However, ViewRanger is now in my life so at least there's a track recording of the route we took.

Some pics:

Sunken lane out of Lockton

Easy walking along the valley floor

Entering the Bridestones

Brilliant curly tree branch

Heading up onto the Bridestones moor

In front of the Bridestones -
weird wind carved rock formations

Seriously!!!

No walk is complete without some mud!
