Camping Weekend: Robin Hood's Bay

Friday, 21st August 2015 - Travelling and Setting Up Camp

Met up with Tracey off the forum after she'd convinced me that camping, and tents, have come a long way since those triangle shaped, leaky things that you had to crawl in and out of on your hands and knees.

We were using hers and her hubby's 4 man tent as it had lots of head room and plenty of space and our base for the weekend was Bay Ness Campsite, Robin Hoods Bay - a working farm on the clifftop.

Home for the next couple of days

Beautiful sunrise

Yep, tent's still there!

Saturday, 22nd August 2015 - Goathland (6.3 miles)

Off we pootled for a tour of Goathland.... steam trains, heather, cake and a wander around "Aidensfield" - the Heartbeat TV programme village ... what more could you ask for?:

Not sure how I feel about these captive birds on display, as beautiful as they are, they shouldn't be tethered like this..

The local fire station!

Sunday, 23rd August 2015 - Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay (7.7 miles)

Today had us packing the tent away ready for setting off home.  The farmer very kindly let us stay parked on the campsite until we returned from today's walk which was a linear walk from Whitby, along the coast path (Cleveland Way) back to Robin Hood's Bay.  We set off for Whitby in my car and got parked up on some random road which didn't have any parking restrictions and set off...

Once back at the campsite, Tracey ran me back to my car in Whitby before continuing her journey home to Richmond.

All in all, another great weekend walking and it's got me thinking about camping as this really wasn't anything like my last camping experience - cheap accommodation (campsite) = more chances to get away for little walking weekends ... food for thought.

Thanks for looking 😊
