2014 Summary

Lots of walking for me this year.

I joined a few forum meets too - it's good to meet up with and put faces to names to people who have been enormously helpful and amusing in "cyber-world".

I do seem to have (re)developed my problem with my Achilles tendon though which, when it plays up, puts a bit of a dampener on the walk.

I also seem to have lost a bit of weight - despite eating lots of cake and chocolate!

More of the same next year then?!

East Yorkshire: Keyingham (4 miles)

Sunday, 14th December 2014

Another visit to Keyingham to explore the area around the school I went to.

The school playing field

Peek-a-boo!

I never quite imagined a menagerie in the middle of the village!

My old school - now boarded up and for sale

I couldn't find a way into the school for a nostalgic poke around.

Thanks for looking 😊

North Yorkshire: Jervaulx Abbey

Sunday, 7th December 2014

I met up with a few people for day 2 of their walking weekend in Masham.  A lovely (squelchy) wander around Nidderdale, visiting Jervalaux Abbey, a fabulous little village hall in Thornton Steward where you paid for your cuppa in an honesty box, a meander through Danby Hall Estate and returned along the banks of the River Ure.

As I'm writing this 3 years after the event, I'll just post some pictures and annotate where I can.

North Yorkshire: Nidd Gorge and Knaresborough

Sunday, 1st December 2013

Met up with Ed and Kerry for an easy, low level winter wander.  I'm putting these pics up some 4 years later (and in the days before Viewranger) so I'm not sure of the route we took or how long the walk was - probably about 7 or 8 miles knowing Kerry!
