East Yorkshire: South Cave, Drewton Wold

Sunday, 22nd September 2013

Added as an archive 5 years later in 2018.

This walk became a bit of a "staple diet" walk for hill work as there's lots of ups and downs.  It has my affectionately named "4 stops hill" and my mission was to be able to walk up it without stopping.

It is a lovely walk and one I intend to repeat, today in fact, (Wednesday, 18th April 2018)!

Anyway, some pics of the 2013 walk:

Heading down the track at Beverley Clump

A "wow" moment view
(my four stops hill)

Looking along the hillside to the trees opposite
(my next bit of the walk)

The most complicated gate ever!

Squirrel

Mushrooms

Heading along part of the Yorkshire Wolds Way

A welcomed bench for a brew

Wonderful old tree

Another one of those complicated gates!

I came from the left this time
(my outward route took me to the right)

The Warrens full of sheep
A lovely 5 (approx) mile walk.  If I remember rightly, a year or so later there was a lot of tree felling going on which ruined the woodland part of the walk and I stopped doing it for a while. So yes, I must do it again now it should have all re-naturalised again.

Thanks for looking 😊

East Yorkshire: Thixendale and Wharram Percy

Added as an archive 5 years later in 2018.

I seem to recall having to do a lengthy detour to avoid cattle

Loved the angle of this signpost!

The rain didn't quite hold off

I also seem to remember they did lovely home made cake in the Village Hall.

Yorkshire Dales: Settle to Catrigg Force via Attermire Scar (8 miles)

Wednesday, 4th September 2013

Met up with Peter from the forum for a wonderfully varied walk from Settle, taking in Attermire Scar, Warrendale Knotts Victoria Cave, Jubilee Cave and Catrigg Force.  Great day's walking.
