West Yorkshire: Wharfedale - Riffa Woods (5 miles)

Saturday, 2nd February 2013

Well the new Sat Nav worked brilliantly and got me to the start location in plenty of time. The walk was organised by The Yorkshire Dales Society and described as a 4 mile walk with one steep ascent.  WELL... the walk was actually nearer 5.5 miles and there were 3 steep ascents!  The walk was very VERY muddy - ankle deep in places, but my boots kept my feet warm and dry.  We couldn't have asked for better weather - bitterly cold but brilliant sunshine, although all the hats, gloves and scarves came off by the time we got to the top of the first hill!  Anyway, it was a lovely walk and the people on the walk were really friendly - there was about 10 of us in total.  I ached a bit once I'd got back home but nothing too bad to put me off doing it again 😊
