Day 1: 7th February 2015 - Elterwater and Cathedral Cavern
Met up with everyone for a forum meet day walk (although I was staying for the weekend in Ambleside). A cold, crisp, sunny day for a walk... lovely.

Random bit of stone carving ... almost like a cross stitch sampler! |
It has an almost alpine feel with the fir trees and snow capped mountains behind |

A rare occasion when we were all together! |
Views over the Langdale Pikes from a small, unnamed hill |
Heading up to the snack stop! |

Wonderful views. Perfect weather.
Day 2: 8th February 2015 - Old Dungeon Ghyll to Ambleside
Today I met up with Peter for a linear walk. We went in his car to ODG, walked back to Ambleside, then I took him to pick his car up (sounds complicated!!).
Some pictures:
Them Langdale Pikes again |
The fog is settling in |
Anyone up there will be seeing a wonderful cloud inversion |
Gentle, riverside walking |
I just liked this view |
The fog settling in good and proper over the Rydal Water |
The river running through Rydal estate |
Day 3: Stock Ghyll Force
A short leg-stretch before my drive home. I think this would be a nice walk in Autumn.
Entrance to the park (once upon a time there was a charge) |
Weirs |
Lovely woodland path |
Stock Ghyll Force |
Nice view over Loughrigg from the road back into Ambleside |
All in all, a lovely weekend. Unbelievably good weather considering the time of year (and location!!). I felt very refreshed and invigorated after this little break.
