Lake District: Bleaberry Fell and High Seat (4.6 miles)

Saturday, 5th September 2015

I've spent this last week at Sheila's caravan.  Today I met up with Tracey for a steady amble up Bleaberry Fell a lovely hill falling just short of the magic mountain height at 1,936ft, then a boggy trip across to High Seat at 1,994ft high before descending down to Ashness Bridge.

Some piccies:

Beautiful views over Derwentwater
from beneath Brown Knotts

Looking across to the Skiddaw range

Plenty of climbing left to do
(there is a path in there somewhere!)

Bassenthwaite lake just visible in the distance

And so into heather territory on the flanks of Castlerigg Fell

High Seat
(after a very boggy middle bit)

Me at High Seat summit trig

Views towards Bassenthwaite lake from Dodd crags

A fabulous, leisurely walk in glorious weather.

Strangely, this was the only "proper" walk I did the whole time.  I spent a lot of time just relaxing, shopping in Keswick and doing a bit of driving around to get my bearings, stopping off here and there for a little mooch about.  In some respects, you could say I wasted the week but there is something wonderfully relaxing about not having any commitments or timescales to stick to.

Thanks for looking 😊
