Met up with Paul and Karl for a bit of a mooch up Buckden Pike and Starbotton Fell.
We parked in the YDNP car park (pay and display) - this is NOT a National Trust car park (as I initially thought).
After getting booted and sooooted up we set off. The fell tops were buried under a crown of cloud but, luckily, the higher we walked the higher the cloud got. When we arrived at the top of Buckden Pike (after a bit of off-piste wandering and many stone walls clambered over) the tops were well clear of the cloud and the views down the valley were bathed in sunshine.

We were supposed to take that path under the trees ... but missed it! |

Off-piste on Buckden Pike and the clouds have parted giving a lovely sunlit view down the valley |
A few flowers which I wouldn't have seen had we stuck to the path!:

We continued along the slabbed path from the pike to the Polish War Memorial on Starbotton Fell:

We had a snack stop in a fallen-down barn with views over the Yorkshire 3 Peaks before descending down into Starbotton.

Easy walking now along the river and through the meadows, with views of the hills we'd been on top of to our right:

And so, back to the cars. I spent a bit of time sat in the sunshine, eating my final sarnie and having another cuppa before heading off home. Lovely way to round off a really enjoyable walk.
Really lovely day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers guys for the company and the chuckles.
Thanks for reading 😊
