WI Walk - Cloughton to Hayburn Wyke (4.4 miles)

Sunday, 15th September 2019

Despite not really having enough sleep I still awoke before my alarm and enjoyed a leisurely cuppa and shower before packing my case and meeting everyone in the main building for what is pretty much a 3 course breakfast - delicious as always.

After breakfast we went back to our rooms to finish getting packed up and check out, meeting at the cars to start our walk.

We walked straight from the hotel down the road to the clifftop, then walked off the end of it!

This bit of coastline is very uppy and downy - seems like a perfect excuse to pose for a group photo!
Enjoying the views!

Another breather at a conveniently placed bench
with fab views towards Scarborough

Luckily we all enjoyed taking in the views and deeply breathing all those wonderful brine-y sea smells...

...and one without everyone in the way of the view!
Our plan was to head down to the pub a short distance away.

Pit stop at the pub!

From here we returned to the hotel along the Cinder Track.  A predominantly tree lined disused railway.  Very flat and not a great deal in the way of views.  Not particularly my cup of tea but it gave us chance to all walk together and chat.

We had a quick foray into the Secret Garden before heading back up to the hotel for our Sunday lunch (only 2 courses this time), after which we jumped into the cars and headed home... via Tiffins Tea Room in Old Bridlington!

Thanks has to go to Mo for organising the weekend and Karen and Gill for driving.  A smashing weekend with perfect weather.
